VOLUNTEER PARTNERSHIP FOR WEST AFRICA

GHS 24,858.00

Volunteer Partnership for West Africa is a local NGO operating a Street Library in Anoff, a town in the Nsawam Adoagyire Municipality of the Eastern Region. Pupils from the town and surrounding villages converge at a particular location to have their reading lessons after which the books are sent to different location for the same purpose. The challenge is that the pupils are distracted in so many ways since most of the reading venues are in an open location. With support from the Trust the NGO has put up permanent site to serve as a reading hub for the pupils in the town and neighboring communities.

GHS 25,000

Prestige Institute Professionals, located at Achimota in Accra trains students in the various disciplines of cosmetology including facial care, manicure and pedicure, massage etc. Though many more young people are interested in the course, the cost of the training has a big barrier to them since most of them were from poor homes thereby killing their ambitions of becoming professional beauticians. The Trust supported the training of 25 students under the Anchor of Hope Programming by providing 80% scholarship to students who were willing to pursue the cause but lacked the necessary funds to do so.

The first batch of students under this programme has graduated successfully are now equipped with relevant knowledge and professional skills to earn a decent living

RYNER PAUL ANGLICAN SCHOOL

GHS 16, 379.00

Pupils of Ryner Paul Anglican School in Ngyersia, a fishing community in the Sekondi/Takoradi Municipality of the Western Region had to walk home or go to the nearby beach during school hours in order to attend natures call because they didn’t have any toilet facility in their school. Sometimes when the pupils go home to use the toilet in the house, they do not return to school to continue their lessons. This situation, school authorities say, is very worrying and seriously hampering academic activities.

The Trust converted an existing urinal into a WC for use by the staff and pupils of the school. At the commissioning of the project, the school authorities thanked Ghanaman Trust Fund for coming to their aid with a water closet toilet facility.
